About

Long, long ago in a blogosphere far, far away, we met in each other's comments. Who would have guessed that three years later we'd be married and blogging about our two daughters? Not us, but here we are!

Movies of the Season

--Jay at 12:01 PM--

Caltechgirl wants to know your favorite Christmas movies.  Actually, she craves comments and it’s a naked attempt to generate a bunch of them.  Maybe you could go over and make her feel better?

I always watch While You Were Sleeping around this time of year, as being the holidays plays a big role.  It’s also tended to be a time of year when I watch Die Hard again.  Both excellent movies.

As for the rest, hard to say.  I love the original Grinch above all Christmas specials, and I also like the movie.  I love Rudolph, which Deb has never seen because not everyone feels the same way.  Frosty, too, but that makes three I have named that aren’t “movies.”

Anywho, go ahead, make her day.  And if you have nothing to say on movies, perhaps you could comment on one of her many other fine posts.

Blogs Around The World Update

--Jay at 10:43 AM--

Oscar Jr. is an excellent blogger I wish would post more frequently.

Well, once upon a time, he created this excellent project called Blogs Around The World.  It’s a nice source for blogs in English from or about almost everywhere, if you’re looking for local color or something different to read.

Oscar Jr. has come out of seclusion (at a secure location?) long enough to let us know that BATW has been updated and indexed.  Now instead of scrolling you can click a country name in the index to go straight to that section.

If you haven’t been there in a really long time, or at all, you may have missed the previous addition of flags and maps, and the addition of news sources as well as blogs.

It’s well worth checking out.  For instance, Ukraine is in the news, so you might check for blogs in Ukraine via the BATW project.  Nice.

Unsound DVD Recording

--Jay at 10:24 AM--

So if you try the same thing repeatedly with the same result, doesn’t that make you insane?  Bob at XTremeBlog talks about things you never knew about DVD recording, and ends with a bit about the Supreme Court VCR case back in 1980.  When the inevitable repeat case comes before it on DVD recording, why should the result be any different?  It shouldn’t.  I just fear the industries involved will have played the political game too well by then.

Down the Turkey Chute*

--Jay at 10:15 AM--

Rob is looking for turkeys.  Can you add any?

* Sorry, sometimes I just can’t resist a pun.  Yay.
