Acidman Meets Young Pussy

--Jay at 12:02 PM--

Reincarnated as a cat?

And don’t miss McGehee’s comment: “Top Ten Ways to Tell If Your Cat Was Rob “Acidmanâ€? Smith in a Former Life.” Heh.

In Memory Of Acidman

--Jay at 09:10 AM--

“There’s nothing good about fireants.”

He used to cuss out the little buggers, and he got a kick out of this.

Politics explained.

--Deb at 09:52 AM--

“These are people who would bully in other aspects of their lives if they could, but this is a socially acceptable way to get away with it.”

From a NYT article on how hard it can be to adopt a dog.  Hey, wasn’t that an episode of Darcy’s Wild Life?  You know, the one where Darcy won’t let anyone have an animal because none of them are good enough?  Of course, Darcy meant well and they got her straightened out by the end of the episode, so there you go.

But really, an awful lot of what passes for governance seems to be nothing more than people with control issues trying to inflict them on everyone, don’t you think?

Happy Birthday

--Jay at 12:20 AM--

To blogger Lori of Pugsplace, who has the cutest video of Pugsley unwrapping.

Rest In Peace Foxy

--Jay at 07:29 AM--

Foxy was one of those sweet, gentle dogs, yet with quite a distinctive personality and sometimes almost human body language.  I lived with her for several years when I shared a house with my stepsister.  I just learned she left us Wednesday, another canine victim of cancer.  It’s sad that Sadie, who loves dogs, will never get to meet her.

Doggies

--Jay at 09:13 AM--

It’s going to be fun the first time Sadie gets to meet a friendly dog in person, as she’s completely fascinated with them.  She likes to stand at my office window, watching the dogs in the yard next door, and even making them bark by rapping on the window.

Be that as it may, I didn’t think she was that fascinated by them.  After watching the end of the parade with mixed interest yesterday, she wound up watching, with far greater interest, the big dog show that was being broadcast.

Meow?

--Jay at 09:40 PM--
You Are A: Kitten!

kitty catCute as can be, kittens are playful, mischevious, and ever-curious. Like you, kittens hate getting wet. Kittens are often loving, but are known to scratch or bite when annoyed. These adorable animals are the most popular pets in the United States--37% of American households have at least one cat.  Whether it is your gentle purr or your disarming appearance, you make a wonderful kitten.

Rest In Peace Edloe, A Very Special Cat

--Jay at 11:18 PM--

Edloe is Deb’s wallpaper, and she’s very attached to Laurence‘s cats.  Thus even though I am teary too, I’m doing the honors.  Well, that and Sadie woke up crying and wanted Deb after I rescued her from that horrible crib.

It’s a sad day.  The news is here, but the main page is currently a memorial.  Bring the tissues, folks.

Poor Edloe, coming off the triumph of a superb job hosting Carnival of the Vanities.  Earlier reports and updates, in order, were here, here, and here.

Rest in peace, Edloe.  We’ll miss you.

Carnival of Edloe

--Jay at 09:41 AM--

Edloe hosts Carnival of the Cat Vanities this week.  Pictures ensue.

Carnival of the Dogs

--Jay at 08:40 AM--

The latest Carnival of the Dogs is up at Mickey’s Musings, where it appears most weeks.  My brother’s cute dog is in it.

Now That’s A Rush

--Jay at 09:26 PM--

Acidman’s post reminded me of this funny fireant commercial I got from someone at my old job.

Nail The Sheep! (And I Don’t Mean In A Desperate Male Sort Of Way)

--Jay at 11:32 AM--

This is fun!  Challenging, too.  Test your reflexes by nailing the sheep with a dart gun when they try to leave the flock.  Can you be a turbo-charged cheetah or a rocketing rabbit?  Or will you be a sluggish snail or an ambling armadillo?  Perhaps you will be, like me, a bobbing bobcat.

Carnivals Galore!

--Deb at 09:37 PM--

I’m really, really late with this, but the Carnival of the Cats is up (and has been!) over at Running Scared.

The Carnival of the Dogs is still operational, but badly in need of some participation!  So go check it out and submit, submit, submit!

She Loves The Music

--Jay at 04:43 PM--

Sadie has a favorite web site now.  Which would be better if the music would actually play under the classics.  It only plays on the main page, until it runs out, under interactive, and in the really cute music video.

Woof

--Jay at 08:50 PM--

My brother just got the cutest puppy!

Jen Dreams

--Jay at 08:16 AM--

Poor Jen.  Now the mice are invading her dreams.

Speaking of Jen, the mom in one of these pictures reminded me a little of Annie.

A Year of Doggies (Well, part of a year…)

--Jay at 01:19 PM--

Mickey hosts Carnival of the Dogs most weeks.  This week, she has given us a complete year in review edition.

Heard At Our House On Christmas

--Jay at 05:07 PM--

Me,while holding block for Deb to see:*
“Look, it’s Frank J.!”

* Sadie got a set of nine wooden alphabet blocks, and some of the sides of each one have the cutest critter pictures on them, one each of different types like domesticated, wild, insect, and sea.  Santa tells me they can be purchased in one of the shops in the mercantile building in Stowe, Vermont for $15 the set.

Carnival of the Dogs Is Up

--Jay at 04:48 PM--

Mickey has the latest Carnival of the Dogs up today.  Also don’t miss last week’s, which consisted of adorable foster puppy pictures.

Send CotD entries to mickeym -at- comcast -dot- net if you’d like to join in, or point out a good post on someone else’s blog.

The Truth About Cats And Jeff

--Jay at 11:13 AM--

Jeff Soyer has a new blog called Tarazet, not to be confused with Target, and certainly not Wal-Mart.

You could say it’s kind of like blogging meets The Truth About Cats and Dogs.  But you probably won’t.

Don’t miss the post where he asks what dog breeds Bush and Kerry would be, if they were dogs.  It’s great fun, even though someone beat me to the toy poodle answer.
