Happy Birthday
To former President Gerald Ford.
Born in 1913, that makes him 92 this year, three years older than my grandmother, and among the longest-lived Presidents.

Happy Birthday
To my father-in-law, David, out there on the left coast.
Happy Birthday
To my friends and former business partners, Steve Mulchahey and Richard Mageau. Steve is a fellow 1961 person, of which I seem to meet relatively few.
Happy Birthday
To President George W. Bush.

Happy Birthday
To my sister, Lynn, who remains four years older than me. I learned from her, or her kids anyway, that I didn’t want sons exclusively, and that three is better than two by at least the degree that two is better than one.
Actually, to digress a bit, from my own childhood and watching others, I’ve learned it’s better for kids to be closer together rather than farther apart. That on top of the dynamics of how many there are, which is affected by relative ages.

Happy Birthday
To one of my oldest and closest friends, Tom Fish. We met in ninth grade, over 29 years ago. Lately his most excellent wife of nearly 20 years, Diana, has been having health issues that included getting a couple of stents installed last I heard. The best birthday present I could wish for him is her complete and unflagging return to perfect health.

Happy Birthday
To my maternal grandmother, Hazel, turning 89 today. She’s my last living grandparent or great-grandparent, and her house was the scene of the recent bunch of family pictures.
When I was born, I not only had four grandparents, but also at least three great-grandparents alive, and scads of great and great-great aunts and uncles. So many I never really had a good handle on who was who. For Sadie, my grandmother has the same role as her mother did for me; an extra, especially old, but cool, grandmother to visit.
Happy Birthday
To blogger Paul Burgess, who willingly tells us he is 49, and has a rundown of what he was doing in some other years at this time. He pines for a flying car, and makes me wonder whether he’s looking forward to the movie version of Fantastic Four.

Happy Birthday
To blogger John Cole, who always struck me as older than 35. He’s still a youngster!

Happy Birthdays!
To Kathy, Suman, Pejman, and Bill. Did I miss anyone?
Funny how they seem to cluster like this. The next blogger birthday cluster I know of is the middle of July.
Also coming up, my father’s birthday is Sunday. I think we’re going to offer to take him to breakfast or something, as he’ll be down from Vermont. Plus it’ll be especially fun to take Sadie out now that she eats primarily “people food.” My brother’s ex and daughter have birthdays on the 7th and 10th, and of course my grandniece was yesterday.
