About

Long, long ago in a blogosphere far, far away, we met in each other's comments. Who would have guessed that three years later we'd be married and blogging about our two daughters? Not us, but here we are!

Blogger Dreams

--Jay at 11:25 AM--

Two nights in a row I had crazy dreams about bloggers.  Luckily last night didn’t feature yet another one.

The first night is was Charles Hill, staying in a camper on a lake in our area (except it looked like Vermont).  We stopped to visit, driving along, worried about finding him, only to come across a huge glowing sign at the driveway that said “Chez Charles.” The camper was on a slope, right next to the water, attached to someone’s house for utilities.  Off the side of the camper was a metal awning made of slats that could be opened and closed electronically.  While we were sitting and talking, he kept opening and closing them, almost like a nervous tick, apparently in time with Deb’s snoring.

The second night it was Rosa Say.  I went to a computer show, where the price had gone down and it was only $3 to get in, which led me to talk about the kid at the admission table - probably about 12 - about marketing and the slump in people attending these things, and whether the table fees from the vendors were enough to make them money even with the lower admission.

Instead of the traditional open tables, the show was in what looked like a large gymnasium, and each vendor was in an office style cubicle.  I walked along the wall, turned the corner, and in a tiny corner cubicle was Rosa Say, with a “leadership coaching” sign up.  She was wearing a telephone headset, and had her head down on a desk-like surface, asleep.  She woke when I approached, but looked harried, weary and disappointed.  Apparently there was a decided lack of traffic.

I wondered at her being at a computer show with a non-computer offering, but knew sometimes there were such things.  That made me think that the show organizers might do well to start making it more of a general flea market.  The initial conversation went something like:
“Rosa Say!  I’m Jay Solo.”
“Who?”
“Accidental verbosity dot com?”
*Blank look*
“I run Carnival of the Capitalists.”
“Oh!” *gets animated*

Then we talked until I woke up, but I can’t remember what it was about.

Strangely enough, the blogger dreams are tame compared to some I have been having lately.  I can’t remember enough detail to be useful, but I’ve been to the future, in space, on espionage missions, and all kinds of crazy stuff.  Who needs movies when all I have to do is sleep and watch the show.
