A brief Sadie antics update
The kid seems to be growing right before my eyes. Her fifteen month checkup is after the first of the year, and I’m already looking forward to it, since she just grew right out of another batch of clothes. I don’t know what’s inspired her all of a sudden, but she sure seems to have taken off.
And in more ways than one. A few weeks ago her only words were mama and dada. Now it’s duck and cat and dog and up (well, “bup,” lol!) and daddy rather than dada more often than not. If she wants to eat, she runs into the kitchen and points at where we keep bananas when we have them and says “nana nana nana.” If ask her if she wants a diaper, she’ll run to her room if she does and give you a dirty look if she’s not wet yet.
She’s pretty much had it with the idea of napping, which makes things sort of interesting. We’re managing about every other day now, and I’m trying to get us back to every day, but if she isn’t sleepy, there’s not much to be done about it. She’s ahead of herself again, not understanding yet that it doesn’t matter if she sleeps, she just needs to lay down and give mommy a break.
So she just stands there and screams, and there’s only so much of that I’m willing to listen to, KWIM? The funny thing about the nap-skipping is that she’s taken to falling asleep face down in her supper. She’ll catch 15 or 20 minutes that way, then wake up and go on eating like nothing happened. ROFL! She’s just something else.
Ahhh. The joys of toddlerhood. When they’re too stubborn to realize that something is for their own good—and not quite old enough to listen to reason.
Hang in there, babe.
