And in the dumb legislation category today we have…
A proposal to force publication of the real start time of movies.
Only in California.
UPDATE: Turns out the idiot isn’t from California! (Thanks, Andrew!) Guess that teaches me to read carefully before I post!
well, actually, they have to start the film within 5 minutes of the posted time or the studio/distributor has the right to yank the prints, at least according to a friend who used to work in a theater… but that means nothing about the length of time that the previews etc. take once the film starts rolling....
Posted by caltechgirl on 01/17 at 02:21 PMI should have been more clear in my post—that nut-job is from West Hartford, CT. For all of California’s silliness, we don’t own this clown.
Posted by Andrew on 01/17 at 02:44 PMThis is a HUGE pet peeve of mine. I’ve walked out of theatres and demanded my money back over 20 minutes of commercials before a movie…
But I would be MUCH happier with this as a private act, perhaps even a boycott, than an actual law. I’m not so angry about it that I’d compromise my principles.
But it’s tempting…
