Sheesh.

All Wal-Mart stores will move many nonprescription cold and allergy medications behind pharmacy counters by June because they include an ingredient used to make the illegal stimulant methamphetamine, the company said Monday.

I still don’t get what the hell good this is supposed to do.

1. years ago california limited the sale of this stuff.  the idea meth cookers are going to buy it 3 paks at a time, or 1 at a time at costco, seems kind of silly.  Recently a convenience store here was caught with a couple of truckloads of generic sudafed from canada, but you know how bad allergies are in fresno.

   its a lot like gun control, lets inconvenience everyone, when it won’t stop a criminal.

2. There are tweakers cooking small batches of crank for local use, but they are a small percentage of the total problem.

   Meth used to be made by a totally different process, but P2P (the stuff the killings in the movie Witness was about) is no longer obtainable. Funny thing, due to a matter of handedness (not the technical term) the old process actually produced weaker meth. Banning the precursor worsened the problem. Surprise, surprise.
