Building Her Musskels
Last night Sadie tried spinach, in the form of creamed spinach baby food from Gerber. Gerber veggies were on sale for 40¢ at Roche Brothers, so I bought 20 jars and decided it was worth trying that. After all, we have the unfussiest baby.
Sure enough, she loved it. It’s not bad; actually a wee bit bland.
A strange thing happened, though. About halfway through the jar, she didn’t want any more. She was terribly gassy, so it may have been partly that. I actually took her out of the chair halfway through the meal, checked her diaper, and gave her gas drops and Tylenol.
Between patience and giving her a small glass of pear juice and water - correctly recognizing she was thirsty - she did eat most of the jar. Then I broke out half a jar of bananas leftover from earlier in the day. She devoured those and some oatmeal.
Which led me to conclude that she loves spinach, but not enough to eat a whole jar with enthusiasm at a sitting. I think she’ll get the rest a half jar at a time. Even if the problem was as much discomfort as tiring of the taste, no harm in modifying the serving size. It’s great that she likes it.
Of course, she liked McDonald’s fries even better, trying them for the first time during House last night. I was getting home just as House started, so I splurged.
Then I realized that was her first time actually liking potato. Not that it’s a surprise; fries are much tastier than mashed.
French Fries are the #1 vegetable that kids under 3 will eat
They are also my dog’s favorite food, although she will eat most other forms of potato as well.

I feel like we’re going to parenting hell, but it kept her busy long enough that I got to eat my food while it was still hot!
