Colonblogscopy
Question: Would trackbacks be widely rejected (by at least WP and MT blogs) because of a colon in the title? The two that I had that problem with of late had that in common.
Huh? Speaking of trackbacks, since I don’t think mine usually show up, I do take the seperate trackback URL and ping it, right? At least that’s what I’ve been doing.
I’m so confused!!
Posted by Ith on 06/24 at 06:38 PMAs far as I know, the only reason people have trouble trackbacking us is because you have to click the link that says Trackbacks, then copy and paste the current contents of the textbox that will look something like:
http://accidentalverbosity.com/index.php/trackback/2669/LD7BvgaL/The letters at the end, in this case LD7BvgaL, are an automatically generated security code, which changes once the post has been pinged. So, for instance, we couldn’t send out an announcement saying “here’s post X, please link to it, and if you want to trackback, use URL Y,” because Y changes. If you simply copy the link associated with the word Trackbacks, it lacks the code and won’t work.
Other than that caveat, it should work just fine.
