Confuzzle The Baby
One thing they don’t tell you in Parent Preparatory School is the fun game we call “confuzzle the baby.” It’s a kick to pull something new or unexpected that makes her wonder what the heck is going on, since she is totally lacking in context.
For instance, she has no idea what a phone is, besides maybe something her mother is distracted by when the total focus of Deb should pass unimpeded through the event horizon of the attention-singularity that is Sadie.
So it was that Deb was on the phone to me at the office, and Sadie got curious because she could just hear my voice. Deb gave her the phone and I talked to her, achieving the desired result of pure confuzzlement. She had no idea what to make of hearing my voice without my presence. Heh.
we do that with the dog. She got the hang of it pretty quickly, because it was usually daddy on the other end, although my Mom’s dog still doesn’t get why voices come out of the plastic thing!
