Dollars and Vasectomies
We recently had a brief, entirely fact-free discussion, speculating on how much vasectomies might cost. Thus the idea of asking those who have had one.
So guys… how much did yours cost, and was it covered by insurance? Feel free to comment anonymously.
Speaking on behalf of Ryun of course, it was covered by insurance. I will have to get back to you on the exact cost but, I am sure most insurance covers it...cheaper for them to pay for a Vasectomy as opposed to paying for healthcare for a child for 18 years.
Posted by Sharon on 10/13 at 12:12 PMThe insurance picked up 90% of the cost, leaving me with a couple of hundred bucks. And if you want more details, feel free to mail or ask me. Two hints: invest in a couple jockstraps and bags of frozen peas.

Posted by Jay Tea on 10/13 at 07:14 PMMine cost me $450.00, back in the late ‘80’s, when the procedure wasn’t covered under insurance.
Best damned money I ever spent.
Posted by Pawpaw on 10/13 at 08:04 PMMine was covered by Insurance. I think I had to pay $25 co pay or something silly like that.
I believe the total bill was around $500.For me it wasn’t painfull at all, only took about 15 mins, And I came home with nothing but a little round bandaid. No stiches ect.
I did feel kind of like I’d been kicked for a couple of days, but it really wasn’t bad.
Posted by Wayne on 10/13 at 08:47 PMA mere $250, but this was way back in 1981, and my insurance of the moment did not cover it. ("Elective surgery,” they said.)
And Jay Tea isn’t kidding about the frozen peas, either.
