Esoterica
If anyone here were possibly interested, I could post about needing (ideally) to do OLE automation of Adobe Acrobat, and how difficult that seems to be, even though they have an object model. Apparently manipulating Acrobat from another program is arcane at best.
So I am probably going to have to fake it by using the ShellExecute API in Windows, and leave it at that, since the only truly important function would be to open a specified PDF file. The “importing” of a PDF file is a simple matter of copying the file and adding the path to the database.
But since most people here would have that going “whoosh!” over their heads, I won’t. Oh wait…
OLE! Hey I remember that—I think. Back when I first got a computer, it was somehow on and it did odd things. I finally hunted it down and killed it
This was back in 1995 and I don’t really recall what it did, I just remember OLE because of the sound of it (Spanish dancers) and thta it vexed me.

I tried, unsuccessfully, to use the available object to do some automation of Acrobat last year for a project at work, and eventually gave up and found a work-around that’s clunky but works.
