This is the finished turkey from last Saturday, seasoned and basted with butter, rosemary, seasoned salt that was heavy on the celery, and a touch of garlic powder. Mostly rosemary. It was very nearly perfect, which is pretty good for my second turkey ever. One of these times I’ll have to cook a fool one, not just a hotel style. I love the drumsticks, and if I could get them to come out anything like the wings did on this critter, they’d be as good as any I’ve ever had.
This is the turkey soup I made from the carcass, on which I left a generous amount of meat so it would be soup as I like it. I added a little bay leaf, a little chopped onion Jedi Mom helpfully left in the freezer for our future reference, a little black pepper, celery salt and garlic powder. Maybe a pinch of something else I am forgetting. It gave me an excuse to open several of the spice bottles in my big set and see if any smelled like they belonged in turkey soup. Despite the flavoring, it mostly tasted like turkey, very mellow, with just a bit of a boost. It’s as good as I’ve ever had, at any rate, and makes me want to try making pea soup sometime.
I should probably try harder to get the pictures off the camera and posted at the time I make the food, but oh well.
Love the title! LOL And the turkey and soup look yummy!
