Fun Day
I had started writing a lengthy post about all the fun Sadie had yesterday, and what a character she is. The highlight was going to Target, where she got to walk around (at times) in a store for the first time, rather than exclusively riding or being carried. She definitely needs a big yard and/or playground.
Since she’s figured out the whole pushing wheeled items and thinks doing so is as fun as riding on them (unless the riding involves high speed or spinning), she decided she had to push the shopping cart. Strong little squirt. She walked behind one of the rear wheels, pushing, doing all the work, while I kept a couple fingers in the opposite front corner, guiding. The distance she pushed the cart the first time was almost the width of the store. Later she pushed a little more while Deb navigated; perhaps as much as half the width of the store.
The funny thing is when she’s on foot she barely pays attention to what’s on the shelves and racks. Instead she revels in the freedom to walk and run long distances. She tried to run all over the parking lot at the medical center, after playing chase games in the waiting room with a little girl of perhaps six, and trying to explore the whole place. Then she walked all over the second and third floors of my building when we were at the office, visiting people there.
After all that, after a massive supper and bath, she was full of energy, pushing her wagon around and playing with her Mega Blocks, which seem to have eclipsed her love of the doll as soon as she figured out how to put them together and build, rather than merely dismantling what others built. At least she slept long and soundly, once she wound down.
There were two similar potties at Target, so I put one of each on the floor for her to pick. She lunged at one of them and completely ignored the other, so that’s the one she got. She also approved our purchase of plastic spoons and forks for her, with an opinionated “mmmm!” when shown them and asked if she’d like them. If she’s not interested, she says nothing or actively rejects the item.
Sadie is just so much fun.
Of COURSE she’s an absolute joy! Lookit who she’s got for a mommy and daddy!! Ya silly.
