About

Long, long ago in a blogosphere far, far away, we met in each other's comments. Who would have guessed that three years later we'd be married and blogging about our two daughters? Not us, but here we are!

I don’t believe this is even in question.

You know, I’ve been thinking about this “must dispense” thing since I saw an article about it a couple of weeks ago, and I came to the same conclusion John Cole did (if a little less colorfully).  There is absolutely no excuse for a pharmacist to refuse to fill a prescription unless it is to prevent a dangerous interaction.  Avoiding interactions?  That’s a pharmacist’s job.  Refusing to fill your prescription for the pill because he is morally opposed to it?  Completely ridiculous.  It’s not his call to make.  If you’re that opposed to the thing, then you shouldn’t be a pharmacist.  Period.

  1. so deb, when target dosen’t stock an item you
want just call the governor and tell him to order target to stock it?
medical mistakes kill 100,000 Americans a year,
    pharmacists prevent many deaths.
your own mother was given contra indicated
medications and her life was probably saved by the pharmacist.
ALso depraved sexual activity is now listed ahead of obesity as a cause of death by the CDC.
should a health care professional encourage
    destructive behavior?
Please get your Montgomery Gentry CD out and listen to “You do your thing, I’ll do mine”
until your urge to tell others how to carry out their professions goes away.

  2. Sorry, dude.  When “your thing” is to keep me from doing “my thing” it’s hardly live and let live.  Why don’t you go listen to it until your urge to control other people’s sex lives goes away.

  3. you can’t buy sudafed at target

  4. Which has nothing to do with this, but it’s a nice side road to try to veer off on.  This is more like if Target did stock Sudafed but the cashier decided that you wouldn’t have allergies if you didn’t (presumably, bcps are good for all kinds of problems other than birth control) have wild sex and refused to sell it to you.

  5. Not to mention sudafed is an over the counter drug, while the drugs we are tsalking about are highly regulated and available only at a pharmacy.

    Thanks for support, Deb.

  6. Troll. You confused smoking with depraved sexual activity.

  7. If you’re that opposed to the thing, then you shouldn’t be a pharmacist.

Nails it. To the wall. Like Schwarzenegger in that movie where he tells the guy, “Stick around.”

    Well done, Deb.
