About

Long, long ago in a blogosphere far, far away, we met in each other's comments. Who would have guessed that three years later we'd be married and blogging about our two daughters? Not us, but here we are!

I know, I know, but I thought they’d at least make it to the midterms without losing it.

OK, since I’m in a fighting mood today, here are a couple more reasons why I’m almost ready to throw the Republicans out with the bathwater:

Sensenbrenner and his asinine scheme to lock all the pot smokers in federal prison for as long as he can possibly manage.  This, of course, is a mandatory sentencing plan, since we can’t have judges exercising, you know, judgement.  Jeff’s got that one covered if you don’t know what I’m talking about.

Decency standards for cable TV. Because you’re too stupid to figure out what you want your kids to watch and too spineless to actually enforce your own rules.

This crap gives me a headache.  It really, really does.  I’ve supported the Republicans because I thought they had a few big things right.  And I’m certainly not in any danger of falling in love with Howard Dean.  But oh.my.God. I’m starting to feel like I’m being nibbled to death by gnats here.  Is there any idiotic nanny-state scheme that these people are willing not to be a part of?

Sheesh.

  1. you’re lucky I’m home from work today.
instead of gnats figure this out:
Target bans sudafed because of the war on meth.
Visa and Mastercard can’t be used to buy cigarettes over the internet.  These actions are taken by private corporations.
The sherrif of fresno county has federal drug money cut off because he only wants to fight meth and dosen’t want to enforce marijuana laws.
Why are cigarettees and meth bad and marijuana
    cool?
This will help answer your previous post on will the demos ever be back in power.
There’s actually a song about it, I could have been President but I got high.

  2. By what definition of lucky?  You think you’re going to save your wayward daughter at this point?

MC and Visa were bullied into it, as was Target, though more indirectly.  I don’t have time to find all the cites for you, but IIRC Visa and MC were actually threatened by the gov’t and decided it wasn’t worth fighting over.

Why are cigarettees and meth bad and marijuana cool?

Not sure who you’re addressing, I’ve never said anything of the sort.  If you’re expecting me to give the GOP points for consistency because they think *all* drugs are bad, well, you’re going to have a long wait.  I have really serious problems with the anti-smoking stuff and I’m really pissed about the sudafed-regulation schemes, not in the least because it will be completely ineffective in stopping the meth business.

When will they learn that when something isn’t working doing more of it isn’t going to work any better?

Besides, I thought you were pissed off at the ephedra ban?  So marijuana’s bad but ephedra is good?
