Long, long ago…
It was a little less than a year ago that I broke down and put an “about” page together on the old blog.
Curiously enough, I included this detail:
If I ever have a daughter, I will name her Sadie, after one of my relatives who, many years before women were expected to do such things, also smoked, drank, and swore. She gambled, too, come to think of it. It is important to give your kids the right start in life by giving them a name with attitude, even if you know they’ll immediately do whatever they want anyway just to spite you.
And curiously enough, a gentleman by the name of Jay Solo left me a comment that said, in part:
My great grandmother was called Sadie, short for Sarah. I believe she did all of those things. At any rate, she was known as a lively character, and I always thought she was cool.
I do believe that was the first time he ever left me a comment. 
In any case, there wasn’t really ever a question of what our little girl’s name would be!
