No Mooning
Giant City, a fine blog that had disappeared for a while, is back full force. That includes an interesting post centered on questions about the nature of Iapetus.
Of course, there is probably just coincidence, logical explanations we simply don’t know yet, and limits to the detail of the graphics to help the speculation along. But wouldn’t it be fascinating…
This is the first I’ve heard of it. Interesting stuff!
Posted by Ith on 03/26 at 07:33 PMHey! What’s not logical about ancient, spacefaring civilizations who could build geodesic battle stations the size of Alaska, destroy a planet the size of Mars and park the evidence in orbit around Saturn - for posterity!?? George Lucas and Arthur C. Clarke had lucid dreams about this stuff. 2001 and Star Wars were Telefon-style activation codes to awaken the descendents of the Iapetians. Didn’t you know??
Seriously - thanks for the link Jay. The stuff on Iapetus is truly fascinating. I can’t wait to see what JPL, ESA, et al., come up with on it. Hoagland’s stuff is a fun read, but somehow I just don’t ‘see’ some of the things he ‘sees’. I’ll wait to place my bets until the September ‘07 data comes in.
