Oh What A Tangled Word They Weave
Opinion: “web site” or “website”?
Which do you use? Do you have a strong preference? I do. Which is what inspired this post. The source text of a web page I am about to work on has it wrong, so I am naturally taken aback and contemplating changing it.
Of course, then there are those people who have sights on the web…
I use “website”, but I have no strong feelings on the matter
Posted by Ith on 02/07 at 09:54 PMI like “website”, but “web page”—don’t ask me why!
Posted by Indigo on 02/07 at 10:11 PMI use “website”, but that is because I usually do enough typing for the day (at work, not on my blog) that I always look for acceptable shortcuts. I am probably one of the few people that lets my Word Processing program put in the capital letters at the beginning of sentences (of course I always go back and check that it got it right).

Posted by Josh Cohen on 02/08 at 08:49 AMWeb site. Two words.
Posted by Acidman on 02/09 at 01:25 AMWebsite. Dunno why. And the only strong feeling I have on the matter is that anybody who tries to tell me the way I do it is wrong, isn’t going to enjoy the aftermath.
I’m not going to tell somebody who prefers “web site” they’re wrong. I might cat-bomb them but I’d never tell them they’re wrong.
