Something New for Carnival of the Capitalists
Looks like we’re going to try something new for Carnival of the Capitalists, inspired by the Carnival of the Recipes.
Up to this point, we have used a forwarder, capitalists at elhide dot com, switched each week to point to the e-mail address of the CotC host. It has worked nicely, with the exception of a couple times we’ve lost hosts or had excess levels of “spam” entrapment. I fear the latter might have been aggravated by the way the mail was redirected, though I don’t know that for certain.
For recipe entries they use a Gmail account, recipe dot carnival at gmail dot com. Not only is the CotR a brilliant idea you should all keep in mind, but having a standing mail account each host can use each week is a fine idea. If the worst happens and the host site has to change, the entries remain accessible to whoever winds up hosting. They also can be archived indefinitely, given Gmail’s storage size.
I have setup cotcmail -at- gmail -dot- com as the new address for Carnival of the Capitalists submissions, starting Sunday evening, September 19. I’ll redirect capitalists -at- elhide -dot- com to that on a presumed to be permanent basis, so either address may be used.
Each week, the host will be able to login to retrieve the entries and carnivalize them.
I’ll update the Carnival of the Capitalists page to reflect this in the next day or so.
