Sorry so quiet today.
We hung out with Jay at the office, where there’s limited good internet connectivity. Poor thing’s in a broadband dead zone. Yuck.
Thank God he’s got the office. It was 90 degrees at least again today, and with the humidity that’s just brutal. It’s still eighty degrees now at 10 pm, and 80 percent humidity. There’s condensation dripping off the toilet tank, for heaven’s sake.
I’ve been getting some shit for having said that I like it hot. I do like it hot. But when the heat index goes over 100, especially with enough humidity that your sweat doesn’t much help with the cooling, that’s a challenge for anybody all day without air conditioning. If we’d had spring, I probably could have dealt. But this is just silly weather. And liking it hot doesn’t mean I want to live without air conditioning, either. Who would? (I’m sure there are some back-to-nature environmentalist types who would, but I was thinking of sane people. Heh.)
But you know, I have a baby to take care of. And she’s a much happier baby when we remember that she’s a modern baby and take her somewhere air conditioned. I’m quite positive that it’s healthier for her, as well. Heat like this can make you sick, and it’s tougher on the little ones.
I hear the weather’s supposed to be the same tomorrow, and just let me say this: I’ll miss you, but I’ll be cool.
