The Joy of Hand-Me-Downs
You show baby pictures to a random person at the office, only to have them exclaim at seeing your kid in their kid’s outfit, which was handed down to you from whoever they handed it down to, or maybe from the second or third person in the chain. Heh.
Not to mention the other joy, which is saving money and getting better stuff than you might ever have bought yourself, sometimes with the store tags still attached, never worn. There’s one like that in the bag of clothes I was given today.
That totally rocks.
Posted by caltechgirl on 03/14 at 06:11 PMMy sister is in the process of adopting a little girl from Russia (fingers crossed) and last week I brought a bag of hand me downs from my brothers kids to her house.
We laughed because some of the fancy dresses I am certain have been worn by at least 5 cousins and friends. A nice Christmas or Easter dress gets worn maybe 4 times in a season… you can keep handing them down indefinately if you have classic taste.
