There Is No Spoon… Yet
Question: How old does a kid typically have to be before she can learn how to use a spoon and thus eat more neatly?
I gave Julia a spoon at 11 months or so. She totally has the concept down (scoop the food, put spoon in mouth) but we haven’t quite mastered the “neatness” of it yet. Although most of the food ends up in her mouth, some does end up in her lap. She also still tries to grab the food with her hands directly from the bowl, as well as tries to grab the bowl. Most of the time, she does ok though. We have also introduced a cup with no cover and drinking fro a straw, both of which she does very well with.

Melissa took to one faster then any of the other kids. I think she was just about a year old.
once they have some control of there limbs theres no harm in trying it out from time to time. see how she doesPosted by Wayne on 08/15 at 05:37 PMSometime before she departs for college.

(Sorry. I just had to.)

I’m tempted at times to draw a target on their faces to make it easier to locate their mouths. The older one has it bad too. Just keep a supply of clean t-shirts handy and plenty of bleach
